The test is given seven times a year. Most students take the test for the first time in
May of their junior year. You can take the test as many times as you want. Since
scores are now reported in about three weeks, some students can take the test as
late as December of their senior year, depending upon the deadlines of the colleges
that they are applying to.

To register for the ACT, click here. The ACT is given six times a year. Not every
student has to take the ACT. Those applying to schools on the west coast are more
likely to take the test. Some students who do well in school but poorly on the SATs
sometimes find that they do better on the ACT. Using the practice book made by
the publishers of the ACT is particularly important since students probably know
less of what to expect on the ACT.
